Objective

The main objective of the event is to disseminate information on the EU’s and Japan’s activities under Mission Innovation, a global initiative to accelerate public and private clean energy innovation to address climate change, make clean energy affordable, and create green jobs.

The event will be an opportunity to learn on the EU’s and Japan’s policy approaches to tackle these challenges, to present examples of the relevant actions, to confirm the existing top priority thematic areas for collaboration between both sides and to identify new ones, as wells as to reflect on the possible modalities of joint activities.

Following the EU-Japan Strategic Partnership Agreement, the EU-Japan Green Alliance, the preparations to the forthcoming EU-Japan Summit in Brussels in July, and the Mission Innovation Ministerial meeting in Goa in July, the event will give a visibility to the common objective for EU and Japan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, will highlight examples of successful actions, and will be a chance to seek complementarities and synergies between the two sides under Mission Innovation, in particular, related to Carbon Dioxide Removal Mission, Clean Hydrogen Mission, and Green Powered Future Mission.
