OFFSHORE WIND POWER

Strengthening EU-Japan Cooperation

Wednesday, 19 June 2024, 16:00 - 18:00 (JST) / 9.00 - 11.00 (CEST).

Objective

In recent years, the EU and Japan have actively engaged on Offshore Wind Power (OWP), utilizing among others the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (‘EPA’), as a platform of cooperation on regulatory and policy aspects of offshore wind. This engagement aims at supporting the clean energy transition as per the EU and Japan’s commitments as well as to maximize the participation of EU operators in this growing market. For this bilateral cooperation to remain effective, it needs to be based on real time information of the regulatory and market related developments of this fast-growing sector in Japan.

The objective of the event is to share with relevant stakeholders, including Japanese authorities, information on recent studies in the offshore wind energy sector, in particular floating offshore wind power in Japan, to address challenges, investment opportunities and present the necessary recommendations to boost the deployment of offshore wind energy in Japan.
