Background / 背景

In Japan, the number of female ministers has become a point of focus with each cabinet reshuffle in recent years. Looking to the Nordic countries, the proportion is considerably higher, ranging from 36% to 61% female ministers, against 16% in the current Japanese administration. What are key success factors underlying Nordic model of higher female representation in politics and how could this potentially be achieved in Japan?

日本では近年、内閣改造のたびに女性閣僚の数が注目されるようになってきました。北欧諸国を見ると、女性閣僚の割合は現行の日本政府の16％に対し、36％から61％とかなり高い水準にあります。北欧モデルが政治分野で高い女性代表率を実現している背景にある主な成功要因は何でしょうか。また、これを日本において実現する可能性はあるのでしょうか。
